Female Driving Instructors consists of a network of 14 instructors spread across the city of Edinburgh, East & West Lothian and surrounding areas. The business began in December 2007 and has rapidly grown mostly through recommendation.

Diane Bryden and Christine Moyes (owners of FDI's) work tirelessly to ensure that the business runs in a professional and positive manner. All instructors are part of the team and are encouraged to take part in regular training and help to support one another.

At present there are 13 female and 1 male instructor in the team. Along with that there are many 'friends of FDI's' that will help out when required.

Each instructor provides a PERSONAL DRIVING PROGRAM to suit the individual pupil. Notes and progress sheets are used to ensure continuous development. Support and advice can be provided at any time relating to the THEORY TEST.

Lessons can start from home, school or work and can vary in length from one to two hours (see prices). At present the MINI is the main instructor car, however, other makes of small car are used to cater for a wider client base. We now also have an automatic car.

Mock tests are used regularly by the FDI's in order to identify driving strengths and weaknesses but also for test preparation. As a school, a system is offered whereby an unknown FDI will conduct a mock test with each pupil. This can be repeated as required and pupils are not encouraged to sit the PRACTICAL TEST unless 3 consecutive mock tests have been passed.

Males: The name FDI describes the instructors (apart from the male instructor) and therefore we teach both males and female pupils. In fact some of our instructors have ratios of up to 30% male clients.
